I wasn’t always this confident. I wasn’t always sure of my voice, my purpose, or how I’d even make it through the week. I was a single mother, raising a college student while preparing to send my second son off to college. I had just bought a home, was running two businesses, and working as a professor at two colleges.

From the outside, it looked like I was handling it all—but the truth? I was exhausted. I was drowning in student loan debt from earning my PhD, managing bills that never stopped, and trying to balance my own dreams while showing up for everyone else. I was constantly pouring, with very little left for myself.

I was exhausted.

I was overworked.

And I was done.
